Murder Inc. Exclusive: Possible Early Long Island Serial Killer Murders
The purpose of this page is to identify any possible murders that could be connected to the Long Island Serial Killer case going back to the early 1980s. Many of these long forgotten murders have what is referred to by researchers as “internet silence”, which means no mention of the murders any where on the internet besides newspaper archives. Murder Inc. has spent the last 12 years researching and compiling possible murders that may be connected to the Long Island Serial Killer case. This page will be updated frequently. On October 30, 1981, 17 year old Janice Fullam disappeared from Hauppauge, NY. She was never seen again. Hauppauge is also where Long Island Serial Killer victim Megan Waterman disappeared from in 2010.
On February 3, 1982 the dismembered remains of Tina Foglia were found in three garbage bags bound with heavy cord on the entrance ramp to the Sagtikos Parkway from the Southern State Parkway in Brentwood. She was last seen at Hammerheads in West Islip. The band Equinox was playing the night she disappeared. Her murder has long been theorized to be connected to the LISK case.
On March 18, 1982 a series of murders believed to be committed by a serial killer known as Jack the Strangler began. Sheryl Guida was found naked and strangled and dumped on Neptune Ave in Coney Island. She worked as a sex worker and was known to use heroin.
On July 20 1982 the body of Glenda DeLeon was found in the gutter on Water Street in Manhattan. She was found wearing a polo shirt and jeans that were partially unzipped. She’d been strangled with a pair of panty hose. DeLeon lived at the Delancy Hotel and police claimed they believed she was a sex worker who frequented the area around on Bowery between Canal and Houston. Six days later on July 26, 1982 Patricia Shea, of 107-10 Shore Front Parkway in Rockaway Beach, Queens was found murdered. Her body was discovered in a cloth bag bound with rope in the weeds on Center Drive in Prospect Park in Brooklyn. She’d been strangled with a thin nylon type rope. The last unsolved murder in the Jack the Strangler series was on August 3, 1982 when an unidentified woman was found murdered in the water off Pier 69 in Brooklyn. An electrical cord was around her neck and bound her hands behind her back. She’d been strangled by a combination of the killer’s hands and cords. She’d also been beaten and there were marks around her ankles indicating her feet had been bound. She was described as 18 to 25 years old, 5’6 with brown hair and brown eyes.
The next day, August 4 1982, a young girl was found murdered in a dumpster in Freeport, NY on Long Island. She was described as black and thought to be between 14 and 18 years old. Pine needles found on her body led police to believe she’d been in a wooded area before being placed in the dumpster. Her case is commonly referred to as Nassau County Jane Doe (1982) or Freeport Jane Doe.
On November 4, 1982, a bus driver named Robin Wolcott was found stabbed to death in a Bay Shore Parking lot. On November 25, 1982, the skeletal remains of Margaret Forbes were found in Bay Shore in a culvert along the Robert Moses Causeway that leads to Jones Beach. She’d been dead for at least six months and had disappeared in early 1982 around the same time as Tina Foglia. She lived at 241 Windsor Drive in Bay Shore at the time she disappeared.
On January 20, 1984 the body of an Asian man was found dumped off the Captree Bridge that leads to Gilgo Beach. He’d been shot six times in the back of the head and his feet were bound with cord. On February 16, 1984 Christine Clarkson was found murdered behind an alley in West Hempstead. She’d been bludgeoned to death after leaving a local tavern. On August 12, 1984 Evelyn Battel’s battered body was found in Greenlawn. She had been beaten to death and thrown from a vehicle. Her clothes were found a half mile away. Battel lived in Huntington Station and had been seen in the Huntington area on the night of her death.
On June 12 1984 15 year old Kelly Morrissey disappeared from Lynbrook, NY after heading to a video store. She was never seen again.
On July 17 1984 19 year old Bo Ren Deng was found murdered along the Long Island Expressway service road in Old Westbury. He was found strangled, badly beaten, bound around the hands and wrapped in a blanket. Deng lived on Mott Street in Manhattan. His body was found approximately a mile and a half down the road from the New York Institute of Technology, Old Westbury campus where Rex Heuermann attended college.
On August 21, 1984, Deborah Lee Smith’s nude body was found wrapped in a blanket and left on the side of Hunter Avenue in Valley Stream. She’d been shot once in the head and once in the chest with a large caliber weapon. Smith worked as a sex worker and was last seen alive the night before on 34th street and 11th Avenue in Manhattan.
On September 10, 1984 the body of 14 year old Laura Parker was found in the woods in Lindenhurst, NY. She had disappeared on May 23, 1984. The FBI was called in to investigate her disappearance, determined she had not been abducted and abandoned the investigation after one week
On November 10, 1984 Theresa Fusco disappeared in Lynbrook, NY near where Kelly Morrissey was last seen. Her body was found in the woods in Lynnbrook on December 5. The Nassau County Police Department later framed three men for her murder. They did 18 years in prison before being released. DNA recovered from Fusco’s body matched none of three men.
On February 14, 1985 the skeletal remains of 16 year old Betty Lau were found in a wooded area on the side of the Southern State Parkway in Bay Shore. Her body was found less than a mile from where Tina Foglia was discovered three years earlier and in a similar location along the highway. She’d last been seen alive in Chinatown on June 23, 1983.
The body of Jonie Jackson was found partly covered by a plastic bag under a pile of rubble in a Hempstead alley on February 18 1985. She’d been bludgeoned to death. Jackson worked as a sex worker and lived in Hempstead.
On April 22 1985 the body of 19 year old Jacqueline Martarella was found on a golf course in Woodmere, NY. She’d disappeared from Oceanside in March. She was determined to have been killed by ligature strangulation.
On September 14, 1985, Hempstead resident Gwendolyn Lukes was found strangled and wrapped in a bound blanket left in the St. Patrick Cemetery in Upper Brookville. Gwen Lukes was a sex worker who lived in Hempstead. Gwen Lukes lived on the same block where Jonie Jackson had been found murdered in February. On June 1, 1986 the nude body of Patricia Costello was found in Heckscher State Park in East Islip. She’d been strangled with a “piece of garment” and the other end was tied to a tree. Costello worked as a topless dancer and lived two blocks from 1982 murder victim Tina Foglia in Bay Shore.
On August 6 1986 the body of Valerie Cleveland was found in the shrubs on a Hempstead Golf Course. She was nude except for her Adidas jacket. Cleveland was 5’3 and 90 pounds and worked as a sex worker. Like Christine Clarkson, Jonie Jackson and Gwen Lukes she lived in Hempstead.
On December 23 1986 75 year old Massapequa resident Richard Hanan disappeared after telling his family he was going to work. His body was found bludgeoned to death on Ocean Parkway by a duck hunter near the site where Valerie Mack and the toddler would be discovered in 2011. On March 23, 1987 the headless skeletal remains of a woman were found in the woods in East Patchogue, NY. A remnant of black lacy clothing was found with the body.
On November 26, 1987 the decapitated body of Valley Pamela Harry was found in the woods in Amityville, NY. Her had was found nearby and she’d been shot to death. On June 27, 1989, the body of 22 year old Genise Wilder was found in the back of a Hempstead store. She’d been stabbed to death and her clothes were dishelved. She resided in Springfield Gardens, Queens.
On September 11, 1989 a woman’s body was discovered on the west side of the Meadowbrook State Parkway in Freeport, NY. She had a towel over her face, a rope around her neck and her ankles were bound with cord. She was petite, 110 to 140 pounds and wearing a mini skirt with a gray tank top. She was eventually identified as Carmen Vargas, a 29 year old from New York City. In 1990, Long Island Serial Killer suspect Rex Heuerman was working in Freeport for Greer Construction and shows a possible residence in Freeport in Bedell Avenue around this time. Like Carmen Vargas, LISK victims found on Ocean Parkway also had their ankles bound. The Meadowbrook State Parkway where Carmen Vargas was discovered murdered leads to Ocean Parkway.
On December 13 1989, the nude body of Christina Warner was found wrapped in two green plastic garbage bags in Old Westbury, NY. She resided on W 87th Street in Manhattan and had numerous arrests for sex work all in Midtown Manhattan. Her body was found next to the New York Institute of Technology where Rex Heuermann attended college.

She was 5 foot 1, 105 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a mini skirt and tank top.
